Grammar is the set of patterns that tells us how words fit together to make meaning. It explains why we say "she walks" but "they walk", how to talk about the past, the present and the future, and how to turn a statement into a question. You use grammar every time you speak or write, even when you are not thinking about it.

Learning grammar does not mean memorizing long lists of rules. Look at one pattern at a time, see it used in real sentences, and then try making sentences of your own.
